Abstract | We study the electron energy spectrum resulting from the interaction of atomic hydrogen initially in the 2s state with an ultra-short laser pulse having a ``pedestal{''}, of the sort produced by chirped pulse amplification. As a first step, we treat this problem within second-order time-dependent perturbation theory. The effect of the pedestal is discussed in detail. |
