Abstract

The theory of the interaction of the H-2(+) molecular ion with an intense short laser 2 pulse is modelled by solving the time-dependent Schrodinger equation for the electronic degree of freedom while the nuclear motion is described classically. This method allows us to discuss the influence, of the pulse duration on the respective weights of ionization and dissociation.
